Udall: Glad Administration is Heeding My Call to Investigate Issue-Plagued HealthCare.gov Rollout

Statement

Date: Dec. 11, 2013

Mark Udall, who has engaged in a multi-pronged push for better implementation of the Affordable Care Act, welcomed news today that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has called for an investigation into the rollout of HealthCare.gov -- the federal health insurance marketplace site. The secretary's request follows Udall's recent request for a "full and transparent accounting" of the failed website launch.

"The federal exchange's rollout was plagued by foreseeable problems and technical glitches. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services needs to earn back the confidence of the American people, and I am pleased the agency has met my demand for a full and transparent investigation," Udall said. "Although Colorado has its own healthcare exchange website that is working pretty well, this accounting is an important step toward rebuilding Coloradans' confidence that our nation's health care law will work for them. I will keep fighting to ensure not only that this report is expediently prepared, but also that this important law delivers on its promises."
